I’m also sad about my wallet - I’ll have three in college next year as they’ll join their sister in continuing their education.  One will attend Clemson, the other one Georgia Tech. My daughter is a senior at the University of Georgia.

All of this reminded me of an article I read several years of a speech that Bill Gates supposdedly gave at a high school in California.   I’m not sure if it was a commencement speech or not but I find the comments applicable to the situation

Here are Bill’s words of wisdom about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how politically correct teachings has created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this sets them up for failure as they go out in the real world.

• Rule 1: Life is not fair — get used to it!
• Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
• Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
• Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
• Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping — they called it opportunity.
• Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
• Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
• Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
• Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
• Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
• Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

But the sad fact is that once they’ve finally gotten to the launch stage, the only item being offered is the product itself. In short, it’s a one-shot deal. After the hoopla dies down, then it’s back to the drawing board to create another product.

If you’ve been a part of online marketing since 2005, then you’ve probably heard about those crazy “dime sales.” It’s a special offer where you can buy a hot new product for as little as ten bucks. But here’s the kicker: there’s also an upsell to purchase resale rights for an additional fee.

Your first thought is probably making it a Flash website. Flash sites do look attractive and creative with good visual effects. But, would you be surprised to know for fact that a flash website is NOT a very search engine friendly site! There are certain key factors you should consider before submitting your website to search engines and directories:

Search Engine Optimization – SEO: Search Engine Optimization, most popularly known as SEO, is the process of creating or designing, writing and HTML coding your entire web site in such a manner that your web pages appear at the top of search engine queries for your selected keywords and keyword phrases. Proper site submission and periodical monitoring is important to make sure your site always stays on top. Search Engines (SE) mainly look for keywords in Title tag, Meta Description, content etc. Other factors such as Keyword density, keyword frequency etc. also plays a major part in SEO.

An optimum number of keywords make it easy for search engine spiders to scroll the entire web page. Search Engines never rank a website but only web pages.

Search Engine Friendly Pages: You should create search engine friendly pages on the web site to get top rankings. It’s that simple, it really is. 

Well, how do the wealthy get wealthy? Here are their habits. You must make them yours.  Please, please, please, slow down and understand these truths.  I want to see you succeed.  To do so, I truly believe you’ve got to take these steps if you want to achieve financial success in your life.

1. ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY -  You must accept responsibility for your future.  It’s not your boss’s job to make you rich.  Neither is it the government’s place to take care of you. And by all means, you don’t want to be a burden to your family, do you? Of course not.  In today’s world, it’s your responsibility to create wealth . . . and you can do it.
2. START A BUSINESS -  In J. Paul Getty’s book How To Get Rich, his first rule for success is, “You must be in business for yourself, you’ll never get rich working for someone else.”  Most Millionaires are self-employed. They don’t worry about downsizing!  Wrapping your financial future around a business gives you an advantage over the masses.

All too often  we hear people talk about how MLM or Network Marketing is a SCAM because so many people fail in it.  On the surface… the statistics bear this our - 95% of people in MLM never make any sizable amount of money.  Presented with that statistics,  its easy to see why so many people think MLM is a SCAM. 

But look at it from a little different angle.

Did you know that…

• 95% of ALL small businesses fail in the first two years?
• 95% of high school athletes fail to receive a scholarship to play in college?
• 95% of college athletes fail to make it to the pros?
• 95% of all Us citizens depend on some sort of federal assistance in retirement?
• 95% of all high school students fail to make it into collegiate honors programs?
• 95% of all workers are regular employees or mid/lower level management?

Or look at it this way…

• Only 5% of  ALL small businesses make it past the first two years.

Hey guys… it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.

THE PROBLEM IS WITH PEOPLE!

Are school SCAM?
Are  athletics SCAMS?
Are all companies  SCAMS?
Is the government a SCAM?  (you might have me on this one)

Then why do people say that MLM is a SCAM?

I’ll tell you why… because it’s an easy excuse.  It’s an easy way out and a way to divert the truth

“But Wayne you don’t understand my sponsor said “so-and-so” , she promised me “this-and-that”.   Now I can’t even find her.   I was told I could make $100K my year.  But I didn’t.” 

Cry me a river… 

• Well let’s say that a Major League baseball scout told a high school  baseball player that he had the stuff to make it all the way… a multi-million contract could be his, with a big signing bonus.  Then he spends years in the minors and never makes it to the big leagues.  Is MLB a SCAM?  Is it the scout’s fault?
• You follow the advice of a mentor at work, do what you’re told, get a promotion only to see your mentor leave your company to go work for Company B and your career stalls?  Whose fault is that? 
• Or a teacher tells a student to study hard, make good grades  and that they can do anything they want… then they don’t even get into the college of their dreams.   Is it the teacher’s fault?

See where I’m going with this?   I could go on and on but I hope you get the picture.

People fail in MLM because they are PEOPLE.   Most people are lazy, not dependable, don’t keep their word, have weak interpersonal skills, don’t follow-through on tasks, quit too soon… and the lists goes on and on.

It’s not your program, it’s not your sponsor. It’s you. 

Can you make it? Of course you can… but like tapping into the upper 5% of anything, it takes hard work, improving your skills and steadfastness.
