Play Ball!!  Spring training’s over and MLB has started another season.  I’m not the most avid fan in the world but do try to make it to several games a year.  Being from Atlanta…I’m a Braves fan.

I got to thinking the other day about the similarities between Baseball and working a Home Based business (HBB).  This could be MLM, Network Marketing, Direct Sales, and Affiliate Marketing, or whatever the case.
 
Here are my thoughts… you may think of several more.
 
Batter Up! – You’re not going to get a hit sitting in the dugout.  You’re got to step up to the plate.  Yes you’ll strike out some but so what… expect it. It’s the same with a HBB…  Keep Swinging.
 
Batting Average – Everyone has a “batting average” just like the major league hitters.  Getting a hit is when someone buys your product or joins your MLM program.  Doubles ($500) are better that Singles ($100).  Home Runs ($1,000+) are thrilling.  And then there’s the GRAND SLAM – That’s when someone comes in at the highest level or buys your most expensive product and then they get going QUICKLY and you see cash flow from their efforts in DAYS.  (Adjust your $’s for hits to match the levels in your program).  I prefer high commission/high value products like with The Prosperity Cast Network.
 
What’s your batting average .100? .200?  If you’re not satisfied with it – what are you doing to improve it?  You should hit the batting cage like the bid leaguers and work on your PERSONAL skills.  When YOU improve… so will your batting average.   I promise…it’s you…not your program, not your inviter.  Blaming someone else or your PROGRAM on your sorry batting average is like a player blaming the Manager or “The Game of Baseball” for sorry results.  Think about that one for a while.  What you need is a good coach.
 
Batting Slump – One of the most unexplainable occurrences in baseball is the inevitable hitting slump that ALL batters go through.  I’ve had slumps in my networking and often can’t figure out why.  Ultimately you’ll come out of your slump and most of the time when you DO – you come out on a TEAR and start hitting the ball “out of the park”.

Just don’t let the slump force you out of the game.  You’d be amazed how close people often are in breaking through… but they quit right before they get there.
 
Even Pitchers Get Hits - No matter how inexperienced you are, even a newbie will get hits.  Most Major League pitchers have batting averages around .100 compared to .250 - .350 for better hitters.  Why? Because they don’t practice hitting.  I promise… if you expose enough people to your product or service, you’ll get hits.  The only way not to get hits is to quit stepping up to the plate.  Over time, your skills will improve with practice and effort.
 
Small Ball – Good managers know the keys to scoring runs are to get runners on base, advance to scoring position and score when opportunity arises.  In a HBB, we should also focus on the “small ball” fundamentals – inviting people to a live call, a recorded call or to your website.  Then follow-up.  Do the little things to put yourself in a position to get hits and score.
 
Minor League – When you first get started with any HBB, there’s a learning curve.  It’s the same in baseball where players start out in the Minor League. Some make it to the Big League quickly.  Some remain in the Minor League their entire careers.  Where are you?  Improvement comes from practice, practice, and more practice.  You can’t make it to the Major League without performing.  Good intentions don’t count.
 
Let me close by pointing out one MAJOR DIFFERENCE between a HBB and Baseball.
 
No Pitching - You know what I’m taking about here.  The SALES PITCH.  If you try to pitch or sell, often you’re just going to lose the game.  People don’t want to be PITCHED.  Mastering The Law of Attraction is a much easier road to travel.
 
Now here’s an important question - What are you doing to improve yourself to make it to the Major League?
